The European Cancer Information Portal (EU-CIP) is part of the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (ECPDC) and funded by the Mission on Cancer within Horizon Europe. EU-CiP is part of the quality of life cluster and creates patient-centric information portals addressing the information needs of cancer patients, survivors, relatives, and caregivers on the whole patient journey including time after treatment. It aims to improve health literacy, empower patients, and reduce inequalities in access to cancer information across Europe, focusing on high-incidence, poor prognosis, and pediatric cancers.
The portal provides comprehensive, evidence-based information on cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment options (including risks and side effects), rehabilitation, recurrence management, and palliative care. A Common Library of Contents will be available to all Member States, drawing from evidence-based sources like the Knowledge Centre on Cancer and European guidelines. EU-CiP nodes will be deployed in 11 Countries, with modular central and local nodes integrating existing electronic health infrastructures. AI-supported governance will ensure scalable, up-to-date content for cancer patients in a suited manner.
The BIH Centre of Digital Health coordinates the EU-CIP consortium of 40 partners in 18 European countries. The consortium also includes several patient organisations which ensure that the patients’ view is reflected in the content review and technology usability aspects. Further information is available on the project website.
Further information can be found on the project website.
